One thing that makes Floyd stand out above the competition is our partnership with the REALTOR program. By partnering with real estate agents throughout St. Charles and St. Louis metropolitan areas and being a member of the REALTOR Association ourselves, Floyd can provide discounts and obtain a SUPRA key. This allows us to work faster on your window needs – meeting deadlines much quicker.
If you’re planning on selling your home, you’ll need to make a few repairs and replacements to get as much money from the sale as possible. You’ll want to ensure it’s in top condition and looks the part. People don’t want to walk into a home they’re interested in buying and seeing issues like foggy windows.

Commonly Asked Questions Regarding Foggy Windows:
What Causes Foggy Windows?
Watch the video for a more detailed description. However, in a nutshell, your window has failed and is allowing air in between your two glass panes.
Will The Fog Go Away?
No, once the IGU has a broken seal and has begun to“breath,” there is no way for mineral deposits and moisture to escape. The fog may be better or worse depending on weather conditions, but the only permanent solution is to replace the insulated glass unit.
How Long Does It Take To Fix?
We usually expect a 2-3 week manufacturing time. Some factors can slow this process, but we will discuss them with you when ordering. Each IGU is inspected before scheduling installation.
How Much Does It Cost To Fix?
There are too many variables to answer this accurately, so we like to come out and look at your windows before giving an estimate. Variables include LowE UV coating, Argon gas, Decorative grids, Tempered glass, Obscurity glass, Oversized units, Ladder work or challenging to access installs, etc. We provide a FREE estimate to give you the most accurate pricing. Contact us today to schedule your assessment.
Is It Cheaper To Replace The Whole Window?
It is usually more cost-effective to fix the broken seal. The follow-up question is, how long are you staying in your home? Replacement Windows are an investment in your home that may be appropriate if you have multiple issues with older windows. Repair might be a good choice if your windows are generally still in good condition.
Can I Replace The IGU Myself?
Absolutely. You can call in your IGU sizes and do a self-install. If you are comfortable working with glass, we are more than happy to get the IGU for you.
What Are My Payment Options?
Half Down: We accept all Major Credit/Debit Cards, Checks, or Cash.
Can I Suck The Fog Out?
While there are ways to diminish the visible effect of a broken seal, Floyd Glass & Window does not offer them because they do not solve the root issue. One solution is to drill a hole into the insulated unit and dissolve the mineral deposits with an acidic compound. This may clear the fog, but it has not resealed the unit. It will fog again. The only way to ensure an adequately insulated unit is to replace the IGU.
Floyd helps with any type of broken window you may encounter. From a small crack to a massive shattering, we can help. If your broken window calls for more than just a repair, visit our Window Replacement section on our website for more information on total window replacements.
No matter what your window repair issue is, Floyd can help. Not only do we assist customers with broken and foggy windows, but we also help with other non-functioning window issues. For instance, do you need help with your locks and latches? How about your window balancers (window balancers are a hidden window component that sits inside your window frame)? If you are experiencing anything abnormal with your window, call Floyd today. If your windows are not functioning correctly, that can be a significant security issue for your home. We don’t always think that our home could have safety issues leading to intruders, but a minor thing can turn into something big, so be vigilant and check your home regularly.
